Observation Narrative
Shrubland or "shrub bald" vegetation dominated by deciduous species (cf. plots JRNF023 and JRNF024 from another rock promontory on Wilburn Ridge, dominated by the evergreen Rhododendron catawbiense). Similar to vegetation occurring around outcrops at/near Buzzard Rock on Whitetop Mountain.
Plot located on upper slope of the southernmost rocky promontory on Wilburn Ridge, 0.8 mi northwest of Massie Gap.
