Observation Narrative
The site for this plot is aptly named, as American beech (Fagus grandifolia) greatly dominates much of the northeastern slope and crest of this mountain. The canopy trees of this stand are generally stunted and somewhat gnarled; some of the younger canopy trees and much of the strata reproduction may have originated from root suckers.
Plot located on the upper, northeast-facing slope of Beech Mountain, ca. 0.35 mi west of Buzzard Rock.
