The plot captures the crest and upper slopes of a high, narrow, spine-like metagrawacke outcrop on the bedrock terrace northwest of Black Pond. Vegetation is rather sparse and rooted in narrow crevices. Xanthoparmelia conspersa is the dominant lichen.
