Observation Narrative
Galium hispidulum occurs in a small, bowl-shaped depression at the north end of a shallow, linear, back-dune depression. Short-statured trees and shrubs form a sparse thicket at the site, which at present appears to be quite dry. Pityopsis graminifolia and Andropogon virginicus are abundant. Approximately 30 Galium plants were counted within the plot. Galium is not confined to this location, but occurs sporadically in thickets throughout the dune scrub habitat, including the seaward face at the Holocene dune ridge. Plants were observed both in flower and in fruit on this date.
Plot located among back-dunes seaward of Holocene dune ridge, due west of right-angle bend in Rt. 1901.
