Plot represents certain ecotonal areas on the lower Northwest River in which vegetation is characterized by open or savanna-like woodlands of Taxodium distichum and swards of Carex hyalinolepis. Despite the prevalence of this large, rhizomatous sedge, a surprising diversity of herbaceous species is associated, including plants typical of both the forested swamps and open marshes.
Estuarine Fringe Swamp Forest transitional to Scrub/ Marsh.
