Plot location: Scrubby edge of marsh just east of an upland edge, ca. 0.75 miles NW of the NC/VA line where it crosses the Northwest River. Plot center marked with a 1" white PVC pipe.
Plot located in the scrubby transition zone between low graminoid marsh and a young Pinus taeda - Nyssa biflora wetland forest. As in most similar ecotones of the Northwest River wetlands, Myrica cerifera is the dominant shrub and the vegetation contains a diversity of species associated with both the marshes and swamp forests.
