Observation Narrative ? There are 5-10 acres of this assemblage that winds along the floodplain of the Pamunkey River. It is predominantly emergent wetland with some scattered small trees and shrubs (primarily Acer rubrum). Disturbance is related to flooding and activity by beaver or other rodents. Openings are ca. 20-30 m wide and long, linear and convoluted. There is a submerged channel 1 m deep and 1 m wide that flows through this area. The assemblage is surrounded by forest. Cricket frogs are common. A flag was left at one corner of the plot to relocate site in autumn.
