Observation Narrative
The primary dune system at the northern end of Parramore Island supports a small stand of maritime dune grassland. Plot is located in a local depression of ca. 100 sq. m. Northern end of the plot is located 4-5 m from the crest and terminus of the dune, which experienced some recent hurricane-induced erosion. Southern end of the plot lies 3-8 m from dead shrub border adjacent to low salt marsh. Density of Ammophila and Panicum stems was liker much higher before 2002 fire.

~8 - somewhat coarser textured, moist, medium grayish-brown sand; water table > 1 m deep in lowest part of plot
