Plot location: ravine head ca. 0.1 miles west of pipeline right-of-way, 0.7 miles SE of Mt. Holly Church on Route 651.
A rather mesic but oligotrophic lower slope supporting oak/beech/ericad forest. This stand has very dense shrub and herb layers dominated by Ilex opaca, sapling Fagus grandifolia, Kalmia latifolia, Gaylussacia baccata, Nyssa sylvatica, and Vaccinium pallidum. This stand has regenerated from logging in the past few decades and has very abundant oak recruitment from both seed and stump sprouts.
