Observation Narrative
Small area of Acidic Oak-Hickory Forest on slope above creek. Canopy gaps from windfall (Hurricane). Vegetation reflects these openings with pine seedlings and ruderal herbaceous species. Prior to hurricane, this was one of the more mature stands in the Park and now is still relatively free of Microstegium vimineum. There is little herb cover at time of sampling, may need to resample in Spring. Adjacent communities are Oak / heath and Mesic Mixed Hardwood Forest, although these are quite disturbed.
