Directions to plot: Take Rte.619 west from Park entrance to Breckenridge Rd. (need gate key and permit for access). Take Breckenridge Rd. south towards reservoir. Turn off Breckenridge Rd. onto side road that leads to Chopawamsic Trail (on right). Plot is in depression on left side of road - approx. 1/2 way between Breckenridge Rd. and the trailhead.

Unusual depression/ vernal pond in upland area of Chopawamsic section of park. Soil poorly drained and pond usually submerged with water. Sampled during summer months when no standing water. Canopy primarily Sweetgum in central region of depression. Plot situated at edge of depression and heads towards the center. Sphagnum and other mosses on bases of trees. Max flooding depth in pond is 50cm, in sample 20-40cm.
