Observation Narrative
Relatively small occurrence of seepage swamp. Narrow seep with Mesic Mixed Hardwood on adjacent slope. Species from upland forest come into stand at edges. Stream runs through sample. Coppice regeneration of trees indication of past logging. Largest trees are Liriodendron tulipifera, Nyssa sylvatica, and Quercus michauxii. High shrub diversity and a very shrubby aspect, dominated by Magnolia virginiana. Sandy, organic covered hummocks with gravelly stream channel running through stand.
Probably an inclusion of the Pamunkey Series in this map unit. Soil is heterogeneous within stand. Sample is a composite of from all microhabitats
