Observation Narrative
An alluvial floodplain supporting forest vegetation dominated by Acer negundo, Acer saccharinum and Elymus virginicus var. virginicus. Although present in considerable numbers, exotic plants are perhaps somewhat less problematic here than in many similar floodplain forests of the mountains and piedmont.
Plot located in alluvial floodplain between the Maury River and the Chessie Nature Trail (built on the old Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad grade), 0.5 mi ESE of the US 11 bridge at East Lexington.
