Observation Narrative
This plot lies closer to the ridge crest than does plot ROCB008. As such, it evidently receives less nutrients via lateral drainage and colluvial processes. Mesotrophic indicators are lacking. The rarity Campanula rotundifolia evidently cannot tolerate competition which may result from enhanced soil fertility. This population is similar to the one at the Pinnacle in Russell Co. in that both occur near the crest of an abrupt cliff face. i.e. little upslope which could supply nutrients.
None near plot area, but just upslope considerable trash exists from years of human inhabitation just above the cliff. Also this area burned many years ago; charcoal on stump evident.
