Observation Narrative	Plot is located in most open and sparsely vegetated portion of the prevailing maritime dune woodland community near the northern end of Savage Neck NAP. Vegetation consists of scattered clumps of Hudsonia tomentosa and Cyperus grayi, the former of which contributes most of the organic matter present on the ground surface. Pinus taeda also contributes duff. Plot is situated on the lower, lee side of a dry interdune swale and lies ca. 20 m seaward from the edge of a closed maritime evergreen forest dominated by Pinus taeda. Crest of fore dune is ca. 40 m from plot. Clumps of Panicum are sparse on open sand, but species is nevertheless probably underrepresented in plot. From flagged Pinus taeda: 10.2 m @ 291 deg to corner 1.
