Observation Narrative
The vegetation occupies a steep, drippy-seepy cliff base and is similar to the vegetation found in the splash zone of Stony Man's cliff. Conditions at Hawksbill suggest a palustrine vegetation type, but very few characteristic wetland plant species are present. Therefore, I am compelled to place this vegetation within the terrestrial system. The steep slope appears to moderate the effects of constant seepage. Pools of water never accumulate on the steep slope and presumably saturated conditions may be restricted to fissures, crevices, or similar microhabitats.
Plot location: at base of drippy cliff on Northern flank of Hawksbill.
