Observation Narrative
A dry, graminoid rich woodland occurring in a large greenstone outcrop/woodland complex. Although situated only a short distance upslope from Plot SNP55, the habitat of this plot is drier, with little or no ephemeral seepage in evidence. Dominants here are Fraxinus americana, Carya glabra, Carya ovata and Schizachyrium scoparium ssp. scoparium, Carex pensylvanicum, Helianthus divaricatus and Solidago ulmifolia var. ulmifolia.
Plot location: Shenandoah NP. On slope of Sawlog Ridge above the South Fork Moormans River, ca. 0.5 mi. west of the upper end of the Charlottesville Reservoir.
