Plot location: 0.72 km ESE of the summit of Rappahannock Mtn.
Rock Types Present: bouldery metabasalt colluvium and debris.
This site is a bouldery slope concavity supporting a diverse dry-rich forest dominated by Fraxinus americana, with some Quercus alba, and Quercus rubra. Cercis canadensis var. canadensis dominates the understory. A range of microhabitats, along with fertile (moderately high Ca, high Mg, high Mn) soils, apparently foster high species richness in the herbaceous stratum.
