Plot location: 0.25 km W of the summit of Halls Point.
Rock Types Present: minor metabasalt debris.
Soil samples collected from this plot have the highest pH and total base saturation among soils from all 59 plots in the Watery Mountains. The habitat is a steep slope lying a short distance below small metabasalt cliffs and ledges. Soils are apparently deep, dark, and colluvial in origin. The vegetation is a mature second-growth forest with mixed overstory dominance by Liriodendron tulipifera, Quercus spp., Carya spp., and Fraxinus americana.
