Observation Narrative
Plot captures a medium-age white oak-dominated forest occupying a shallow swale on a sandy ridge upland. This is part of the same stand documented by plot ZOSF001 but is a more mesophytic expression. Mesophytic, fire-intolerant trees (beech, American holly, red maple) dominate the understory, and deciduous heath shrubs are notably less abundant than in ZOSF001. Two large sand hickories rooted outside the plot contribute overhanging cover.
