Observation Narrative ? Red Maple swamp with scattered Q. phellos, Liquidambar, large Magnolia virginiana on hummocks. Shallow backswamp with groundwater influenced hydrology. Small swamp forest (approximately 4 ha) with composition similar to an Acidic Seepage Swamp. This sample is represents the lowest, wettest areas of the swamp. Higher areas are represented by another adjacent plot sample (RNBP005). Higher areas have more Woodwardia and Chasmanthium laxum while the wetter portions are dominated by Carex seorsa, Osmunda regalis, and Saururus cernuus.
