Observation Narrative
A linear plot configuration was used to capture this narrow seepage swamp in small ravine ~40m from the pond shore at Bettys Bottom, Fort A.P. Hill. This site is located in the base "impact area," and the landscape is mostly covered by very open oak-heath forest that burns frequently from incendiary and prescribed fires. Composition of the swamp is fairly typical for an acidic Coastal Plain seep. However, the presence of Solidago uliginosa is noteworthy, as this is the southernmost known site on the Coastal Plain for this northern goldenrod.
