Observation Narrative ? Plot is typical of stunted, species-poor oak/heath forests that are extensive on the upper northwest-facing slopes of Brushy Mountain SW of Carvin's Cove. Short, somewhat gnarled Quercus montana overwhelmingly dominates the overstory while Pieris floribunda dominates the shrub layer in dense colonies.
