Observation Narrative
This plot was positioned in a small area of relatively large-diameter trees in a low-elevation shale landscape disturbed by recent logging and extensive wind damage. Compositionally, the stand is typical of dry Ridge and Valley forests in which Pinus strobus shares dominance with oaks. Deciduous ericads are the prevalent shrubs and herbaceous plants are rather sparse.
