0-1.5 cm: very dense, dry matted crust of roots and duff
1.5-20 cm: impenetrable, exceedingly tightly packed, unconsolidated angular fragments (some large) of highly weathered metagabbro interlocked with friable, very weathered, deep orange-red clay loam.
