Observation Narrative
Plot is representative of dry white pine - oak forest that covers extensive areas of Lickskillet Hollow. The larger white pines regenerated along with oak coppice sprouts following a logging event some decades ago, and young pine recruitment has increased in recent years during a period of fire exclusion. Shrub and herbaceous richness are surprisingly high for such a dry, acidic site.
0-2 cm: mixed leaf and needle litter
