Description: This type covers all examples of Southern Blue Ridge Appalachian cliffs occurring on mafic substrates or mixed substrates and containing plant species characteristic of mafic substrates. It is distinguished by its occurrence on mafic rock substrates and by the associated floristic differences. Its flora is intermediate in some ways between the Acidic Herb Type and the Calcareous Type, but the differences are not clearly defined at present.
