Description: Perennial- and annual-dominated sand flats on upper ocean beaches, within the reach of storm tides and extreme lunar tides. Stands are dominated by Ipomoea pes-caprae and Cakile lanceolata. Other characteristic species include Chamaesyce mesembrianthemifolia, Sporobolus virginicus, Paspalum vaginatum, Suaeda linearis, and Sesuvium portulacastrum.
