Description: This ruderal dwarf-shrubland is currently sampled from a single national historical park in Hawaii, and this description is based on occurrences there. Additional global information will be added as it becomes available. It is found on low, level sites on ocean beaches or in marshy areas. Vegetation covers nearly all the ground on most sites. <i>Batis maritima</i> makes up nearly all the herbaceous stratum in most stands. <i>Sesuvium portulacastrum</i> and <i>Paspalum vaginatum</i> are common, though not dominant. There are essentially no woody strata in this community.
