Description: This alliance occurs in deeper waters than other seagrass alliances. It is found in Florida, Texas, and possibly Mexico. As a species ~Halophila engelmannii$ occurs in many seagrass communities, but only dominates at greater depths. Where it is dominant, no other vascular plants are generally present. These communities are primarily in low wave energy situations.
