Name: Juniperus osteosperma / Cercocarpus montanus Woodland
Reference: Western Ecology Working Group of...
Description: This is a low, shrubby woodland type growing on shallow, rocky soils in south-central Wyoming. The sites on which this vegetation grows are classified as the shallow breaks range site (Warren n.d.). Juniperus osteosperma, which more often is a short tree, and Cercocarpus montanus together form a tall-shrub layer, and Pseudoroegneria spicata is virtually the only understory species. Plant production and soil cover are both very low.
