Description: This association covers deciduous forests on mineral soils on the edge of blackwater lakes in the Tidewater region of northeastern North Carolina. Taxodium distichum dominates the canopy of stands, with a variable admixture of hardwoods, including Liquidambar styraciflua, Platanus occidentalis, Quercus michauxii, and Quercus pagoda. The dominant understory species is Asimina triloba.
