Name: Myrica gale Fen Shrubland
Reference: Midwestern Ecology Working Group...
Description: This shrub fen community is potentially found in the northern Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada. It has not been well described by any authors. Stands are dominated by the deciduous shrub Myrica gale. Codominates may include Chamaedaphne calyculata in more nutrient-poor examples, and Dasiphora fruticosa ssp. floribunda (= Pentaphylloides floribunda) in richer examples. Further work is needed to determine the characteristics of this type.
