Name: Pseudotsuga menziesii / Lithocarpus densiflorus - Chrysolepis chrysophylla Forest
Reference: Western Ecology Working Group of...
Description: This forest association grows between 700-1150 m of elevation on all aspects. Stands are normally found on fairly flat topography on mid to upper slope positions. Sites are restricted to the drier portions of the western Siskiyou Mountains. Parent materials are metamorphosed sediments and volcanics, sometimes moderated serpentine. Pseudotsuga menziesii dominates the overstory tree canopy with some Pinus lambertiana present. Pseudotsuga menziesii, Lithocarpus densiflorus, Arbutus menziesii, and Chrysolepis chrysophylla (= Castanopsis chrysophylla) are all found in the understory canopy. Chimaphila umbellata is the most common shrub.
