Description: This alliance includes communities known as 'badlands' over saline gypseous clays, very sparsely vegetated with perennial shrubs and herbs, with annuals periodically present and dominant following rains. Dominant annuals are Tidestromia carnosa, Kallstroemia grandiflora, Chamaesyce spp., and Pectis angustifolia. Other species include Cathestecum erectum, Atriplex obovata, Neolloydia conoidea, and Echinocactus horizonthalonius. This alliance occurs in the desert regions of western Texas.
