Description: This saturated longleaf pine - pond pine woodland association is only found on wet Spodosols of the Atlantic Coastal Plain of North and South Carolina and possibly in Georgia. The open canopy is dominated by a mixture of Pinus palustris and Pinus serotina. The shrub layer is sparse to absent. Some characteristic components of the herbaceous stratum include Ctenium aromaticum, Muhlenbergia expansa, and Carphephorus odoratissimus.
