Description: This community occurs in canyons of the Chisos Mountains of Trans-Pecos Texas. It is codominated by Acer grandidentatum and Quercus gravesii. Other species sometimes present include the deciduous Ostrya virginiana var. chisosensis, Quercus muehlenbergii, and Quercus graciliformis, and the evergreen Arbutus xalapensis, Cupressus arizonica, Juniperus deppeana, Juniperus flaccida, Pinus cembroides, Quercus grisea, Quercus emoryi, and Quercus rugosa.
