Name: Abies concolor - Abies X shastensis / Ribes spp. Forest
Reference: Western Ecology Working Group of...
Description: This community is common in the Klamath-Siskiyou Region of Oregon and probably also occurs in California and in the southern Cascades. Stands are usually on convex topography at mid-slopes and are found at elevations of 1160-1680 m (3800-5500 feet) on all but northern aspects. This mixed-conifer forest association has a lush understory. Abies concolor usually dominates the tree canopy with lesser cover of Abies X shastensis, Calocedrus decurrens, and Pseudotsuga menziesii. Typical understory plants include Ribes spp., Osmorhiza purpurea, Actaea rubra, and Melica subulata.
