Description: Ptilagrostis kingii is the dominant species of moist to wet meadows in subalpine and alpine zones. In well-developed meadow systems, such as Tuolumne Meadows, stands usually fall between Carex filifolia alliance stands (drier) and Calamagrostis breweri alliance stands (wetter). Danthonia intermedia may be common but not constant. Other constant species include Oreostemma alpigenum and Polygonum bistortoides.
