Name: Agastache urticifolia Herbaceous Alliance
Reference: Western Ecology Working Group of...
Description: This alliance occurs in subalpine meadows in the mountains of western Wyoming. Elevations range from 2040-2835 m. Sites vary from gentle to steep slopes with eastern to southwestern aspects, but are most often moderately steep mid to upper slopes. Communities in this alliance often have a patchy, moderately dense herbaceous layer that is dominated by perennial forbs. At least 10% cover each of Agastache urticifolia, Heliomeris multiflora, or Senecio serra is present in these stands. Other frequent forb associates include Eucephalus engelmannii (= Aster engelmannii), Geranium viscosissimum, Lupinus argenteus, and Delphinium X occidentale. The two most common graminoids are Elymus trachycaulus and Bromus carinatus. Scattered clumps of the deciduous shrub Symphoricarpos oreophilus are common, and occasional Populus tremuloides trees may also be present.
