Name: A.3539
Reference: EcoArt 2002
Description: This wetland alliance is reported from Utah and Ontario, Canada, but the distribution is much broader. If its range is similar to the ranges of the dominant and diagnostic species, then it likely occurs throughout much of northern and western North America. Sites include streambanks, wet meadows and ditches. Substrates are generally organic alluvium. This community is typically flooded much of the growing season. The water table is high even when surface water is gone. The vegetation is characterized by the moderately dense to dense herbaceous layer that is dominated or codominated by ~Equisetum arvense$ or ~Equisetum variegatum$. Other wetland and facultative wetland plants may be present in low cover, but the dominance of ~Equisetum$ spp. is diagnostic of this type. Introduced graminoids such as the perennial ~Poa pratensis$ or the annual ~Bromus diandrus$ are known to codominate some stands.
