Name: Cephalanthus occidentalis / Limnobium spongia - Salvinia minima Shrubland
Reference: Southeastern Ecology Working Gro...
Description: This community occurs in isolated wetland basins in central Florida surrounded by uplands. Cephalanthus occidentalis dominates (often monospecifically). Few or no rooted herbs are present. Floating aquatics include Salvinia minima, Limnobium spongia, and Lemna spp. Although the floristic differences between this community and river floodplain buttonbush swamps are slight, this community is recognized because of its very different topographic setting, dynamics, and fauna.
