Reference: Western Ecology Working Group of...
Description: This plant association is restricted to the upper elevations above 3020 m (9900 feet) of the Mogollon Mountains in southwestern New Mexico and in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico. It has also been reported from Arizona and likely occurs in southern Colorado. It occurs on steep slopes with cobbly soils derived from talus. Pseudotsuga menziesii in association with Pinus strobiformis dominate the canopy. The understory is distinctly shrubby and dominated by Holodiscus dumosus, Symphoricarpos oreophilus, and Salix scouleriana. The herbaceous layer is poorly represented.
