Description: This plant association is described in Idaho from the Centennial Mountains and in Wyoming from the Greys River drainage and the eastern Wyoming Range. The stands are at mid to upper elevations in seeps at the base of slopes and along streams. Soils are reported as organic at the surface. Salix wolfii forms discontinuous shrub cover in stands. Betula nana (= Betula glandulosa) may also be present. Carex nebrascensis or Carex simulata dominate the understory. Other associated species include Deschampsia caespitosa, Symphyotrichum foliaceum? (= Aster foliaceus), Pedicularis groenlandica, and Polemonium occidentale.
