Description: This plant association is restricted to the upper elevations above 3020 m (9900 feet) of the Capitan Mountains in south-central New Mexico. It occurs on steep slopes with cobbly soils derived from talus. Picea engelmannii is the dominant in association with Pseudotsuga menziesii and occasionally Abies lasiocarpa.
