Description: This alliance is found on southern Great Lakes or inland dune systems. Stands are dominated by deciduous shrubs, with a relatively open canopy. Prunus pumila is a characteristic dominant, but Salix cordata, Salix myricoides, Physocarpus opulifolius, and Ptelea trifoliata may also be present. The ground layer may consist of open sand with sparse herbaceous vegetation, including Ammophila breviligulata.
