Description: This association represents the vegetation of the deepest zones of open depression ponds of the Highland Rim of southeastern middle Tennessee (Interior Low Plateau, Eastern Karst Plain Subsection). This zone, dominated by Pontederia cordata, also contains Sagittaria graminea, Sagittaria latifolia, Juncus repens, Ludwigia linearis, Xyris laxifolia var. iridifolia, and Proserpinaca palustris. Scattered Cephalanthus occidentalis may also be present.
