Name: Elymus hirsutus Seasonally Flooded Herbaceous Alliance
Reference: Western Ecology Working Group of...
Description: Vegetation included in this alliance occurs in wet meadows in the Washington Cascades. It was described near Findley Lake at 1130 m elevation. Stands are found on the margins of lakes and in small depressions. Other information is not available. This vegetation includes subalpine wet meadows from the Cascade Mountains of Washington. Stands have a dense herbaceous layer (100% cover) by perennial graminoid Elymus hirsutus and the perennial forb Caltha leptosepala ssp. howellii. Associates include Aconitum columbianum, Carex spp., Trisetum sp., Senecio triangularis, Sanguisorba canadensis (= Sanguisorba sitchensis), Dodecatheon jeffreyi, and several others. Small differences in microtopography result in large variation in species composition.
