Description: The vegetation in this alliance occurs in riparian areas in the Caribou and Teton ranges of the far eastern edge of Idaho and adjacent Wyoming. Stands are located below 2070 m on alluvial terraces and adjacent to seeps. Soils are well-developed, have a thick, dark brown surface horizon, and are classified as Mollisols. Rhamnus alnifolia forms a dense shrub layer. Ribes lacustre and Lonicera involucrata are the only other shrub species commonly present. Calamagrostis canadensis, Elymus glaucus, Galium triflorum, Geum macrophyllum, Heracleum maximum (= Heracleum lanatum), and Maianthemum stellatum are the most common herbaceous species present in the understory.
