Description: This saturated longleaf pine - pond pine woodland community occurs in the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain of North Carolina. It is only found on very wet clay soils. Stands are dominated by Pinus palustris and Pinus serotina. The shrub layer is characterized by the presence of Magnolia virginiana; the herbaceous stratum typically contains Sporobolus teretifolius and Carex striata.
